To learn about visual functioning related to orientation and mobility

Key points to look for when assessing visual function:
  • the size, colour, texture, how far away are objects first recognised?
  • familiarity with objects using visual cues
  • identification of stationary and moving objects
  • size of objects identified. How big do they have to be?
  • bumping into objects. Contrast and position
  • looking directly, off to the side, above and below an object
  • lighting. Cloudy day, bright day, fluorescent lighting
